Texas has implemented portions of the Lead & Copper Rule Revisions (LCRR) and intends to follow the Lead and Copper Rule Improvements (LCRI). At this time, the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) does not have rules or require additional resources above and beyond what is required under the LCRR.
Key components for Texas CWS’s and NTNCW’s to follow include:
- Developing an initial Water Service Line Material Inventory
- Notification to all lead, GRR and unknowns within 30 days of submitting inventory
- Completing Tier 1 Public Notice requirements in the event of a Lead Action Level Exceedance
- Voluntarily notification of customers of a lead service line disturbance
TCEQ has created a dedicated Lead and Copper YouTube Channel, which covers requirements detailed out in the LCRR, methods to complete the Material Inventory, Funding resources, and requirements for the sampling.
For more information on lead service lines in Texas, systems can visit the TCEQ’s website or coordinate with TCEQ directly.
