Wisconsin has implemented portions of the Lead & Copper Rule Revisions (LCRR) and intends to follow the Lead and Copper Rule Improvements (LCRI). At this time, the Department of Natural Resource (DNR) does not have rules or require additional resources above and beyond what is required under the LCRR.
Key components for Wisconsin CWS’s and NTNCW’s to follow include:
- Developing an initial Water Service Line Material Inventory and made publicly available
- Notification to all lead, GRR and unknowns within 30 days of submitting inventory
- Completing Tier 1 Public Notice requirements in the event of a Lead Action Level Exceedance
The DNR has created a guidance document for systems, which covers requirements detailed out in the LCRR, methods to complete the Material Inventory, Funding resources, and requirements for the sampling.
For more information on lead service lines in Wisconsin, systems can visit the DNR’s website or coordinate with the DNR directly.
